Water is incredibly undervalued. We know we should drink more, but we tend to get caught up in our hectic schedules and end up drinking water maybe once or twice a day with a meal. For most people, drinking water is not a priority, plus there are an endless amount of tasty beverages out there that we would rather drink, but STICK to basics people!! Water helps with countless aspects of our health! It helps with clearer skin…YES! It helps with digestion…YES YES! It helps with weight loss…YES YES YES! Water has many more benefits that we can discuss, this is just a start. Simply bring a cool bottle of water that you refill throughout the day so you don’t deprive yourself and start drinking!!!
#2 5 POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS
When you wake up in the morning part of our routine is to go to the bathroom, brush our teeth, shower, etc. While you are in your bathroom, stand in front of your mirror and repeat 5 positive affirmations about yourself. These can be about your goals, self-worth, and anything that makes you feel confident. This task may sound silly, but trust us, you will feel the difference. When we start reminding ourselves daily of who we are and who we want to be, we start to believe it and our dreams become reality. Be kind to yourself. The power of the breath! Our body and heart operate on oxygen, but unfortunately, we sometimes get too busy to even breathe properly. Can you believe that?! If you watch a baby breath you can clearly see their bellies rising and falling, but if you watch an adult breath you cannot really tell if they are breathing. This does not mean we get better at being discrete breathers as we get older, this means we get self-conscious about breathing. As adults, we inhale and exhale with small movements of our chests, which is called shallow breathing. In society, we become self-conscious about pushing our bellies out, so when it comes to breathing we take small breaths and don’t even realize it. Breathing is natural and yet it is neglected! So set reminders on your phone if you have to, and every day STOP and take at least 10 deep breaths daily. This can be done while you’re driving from one place to the next or even sitting at your desk. Just breath…
#4 DO SOMETHING TO GET YOUR HEART RATE UP FOR 5 MINUTES
If going to the gym is not in the cards that day, pick an activity that will get you moving. Even if it just walking your pet around the block or taking the stairs at work instead of the elevator, every little bit counts and your body will thank you for it.
