5 Ways to Stay Healthy While Stuck at Home!
During these unusual circumstances of COVID-19, here are 5 ways to stay healthy and make your time at home productive towards accomplishing health and fitness goals.
1. Maintain healthy eating habits
Try out new cooking recipes while you have a little free time on your hands. Try out some creative healthy recipes and if you are not sure where to start, we can send you sample recipes that are categorized by dietary habits.
2. Take a meditation or yoga class
Mentally this is a tricky time for all of our morals so we recommend you take a meditation or virtual yoga class to de-stress and release any tight muscles that may need some attention after sitting down all day.
3. Get creative
Get creative with the equipment you have at home and your surroundings. For example a backpack full of books can be used as a weight and a couch can be your support for hip thrusts. No matter how small your home space is, there are many different ways to get your heart rate up while exercising that don’t require a lot of room. And if you need a little inspiration send a message our way!
4. Daily affirmations
While we are confined to our homes, it is possible our mind wonders and sometimes not in the happiest of places. Here is a daily practice we use to put things in perspective and help us focus on the good things in our lives. Off the top of your head, list 5 things you are grateful for or something that makes you happy in your life. Repeat these as many times as you want throughout the day, but make sure you at least go through them out loud once a day.
5. Modify your goals
Temporarily modify your fitness goal to something you can accomplish at home. An option to consider would be investing in a treadmill. The team at ConsumersAdvocate.org recently created this in-depth guide on treadmills for anyone interested in researching the topic a bit further. Other ideas could be to improve your flexibility, learn new body weight exercises, and/or build your endurance up with higher repetitions. There are many instructors and group fitness classes going on that you can follow along from your living room and if you are someone that likes a program more tailored to you, TrainQuility is here for you. If you need a customized program tailored to the space you have available at home that will get you productive results while you don’t have access to a gym contact us here to get started!
